THE BRIEF

OPPO has rapidly established itself as a major player in the global smartphone market, competing alongside brands such as Apple and Samsung. This campaign centred on two of its devices — the OPPO Omega and the OPPO Reno12 Pro — with a series of commercials designed to highlight the phones’ key technological features.

The production was structured as a multi-scenario campaign, with each film built around a specific feature in order to demonstrate its real-world application. These included AI Erase, BeaconLink connectivity, and the devices’ splash proof durability. Each concept required a distinct environment that would allow the feature to be shown naturally within a narrative moment rather than through overt technical explanation.

From a production perspective, the brief required a flexible approach to shooting, as we were moving quickly between multiple setups within a tight schedule. Efficiency on set was essential, with careful planning needed to maximise the material captured at each location. The creative approach therefore focused on building clear visual scenarios that communicated the technology intuitively while maintaining the polished tone expected of a global commercial campaign.

THE VISUALS

One of the key challenges on this project was delivering five distinct setups in a single day — spanning an office, elevator, car park and two exterior sequences. With significant time pressure, my focus was on extracting maximum production value from each location while maintaining visual cohesion across the film.

Leading a crew of five required clear, decisive communication and precise delegation to ensure efficiency on set. In prep, I developed a lookbook centred on a vibrant commercial aesthetic — clean compositions, defined contrast ratios and deliberate pops of colour. This framework allowed us to adapt quickly to each environment while preserving a unified visual language, ensuring every sequence felt intentional rather than reactive.

Given the tonal variation across setups, lens choice was critical. I relied on Zeiss Supreme Prime lenses for their sharp, clean rendering and cinematic depth, providing a versatile foundation throughout the day. For select moments that required a heightened sense of chaos, I introduced the ARRI Ultra Prime 8mm — using its distortion and perspective to create a subtle feeling of disorientation within the frame.
